Italy’s Tolkien Audio Productions

Until 2024, Italy lacked any official audio readings and there was only one fan-based recording of the The Hobbit available, by Edoardo Camponeschi. This was based on the original translation by Elena Giadrossi, known as the 1973 Adelphi translation. With the advent of a revised translation in 2020 by Caterina Ciuferri & Paolo Paron, came an officially licensed reading by Riccardo Ricobello, a well-known figure within the Italian Tolkien community.

Likewise The Lord of the Rings got a revised translation in 2019 by Ottavio Fatica which was treated to the first officially audio reading, performed by Massimo Popolizio.
