While the English equivalent (the 2010 Jacobi set) featured a single narrator, this German version is a compilation that brings together well known voices from different eras of German audio drama. This too is a repacking of previously released recordings. The set features the same Alan Lee cover art used for the 2010 English set and the 2011 Klett-Cotta book release. Most of the stories use the translations by Margaret Carroux (the “Schuchart” of Germany, chosen by Tolkien himself) or Ebba-Margareta von Freymann.

The publisher Klett-Cotta released the unified hardcover book in May 2011, and Der Hörverlag followed three months later with this audio set. It was the first time these disparate German recordings were bundled into a single “Perilous Realm” brand.
