Andy Serkis (born 20 April 1964) is an English actor and filmmaker. He is best known for his motion capture roles comprising motion capture acting, animation and voice work for computer-generated characters such as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001–2003) and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012).

He is currently the only person to have recorded unabridged readings of The Silmarillion, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
