The Hobbit in the 2010s

During the 2010s there was another, and even more relevant to this topic, film series – converting The Hobbit into a lengthy cinematic trilogy. Technology is at a point that high-quality, fan-based productions are achievable and we are graced with an epic interpretation.

• 2010 Hobbitten (Gyldendal) Torben Sekov is one only two known official narrators (Andy Serkis is the other) who have completed the “hat-trick” of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion.

• 2013 Hobbit (Muza SA) Marian Czarkowski brings his warmth and resonance to Polish listeners.
• 2013 Hobit (Tympanum sro) Vladimir Kudla reads a Czech translation noted for its linguistic playfulness.
• 2015 Hobitto no Bōken (Iwanami Shoten & Otobank) Yuka Nagayoshi’s Japanese reading was marketed it as “Sound Entertainment” (Oto no Entāteinmento), using high-fidelity recording techniques to emphasize the atmosphere of Middle-earth.
