After the success of the 1977 The Silmarillion: Of Beren and Lúthien recording, Christopher Tolkien was back in the studio again, recording more extracts from The Silmarillion. It was recorded once again under the direction of Ward Botsford, the same producer who handled the professor’s Malvern tapes and the 1977 Beren and Lúthien session.

The LP covers Chapters 8 and 9 of The Silmarillion.
