Eilev Groven Myhren (born 1973) is a Norwegian philologist and translator. He is a music major and a Norwegian, Norse and folklore scholar. His translation of JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings into Ringdrotten (2006) is notable for its active use of Nynorsk, High Norwegian and Norwegian dialects to characterize the different peoples of Midle-earth.

There are two official forms of Norwegian–Bokmål and Nynorsk–and there are therefore two different “Norwegian” translations. He received the 2006 Nynorsk Literature Prize for the translation; it is the second time the prize has been awarded for a translation. He has followed up with a translation of Tolkien’s The Hobbit into Nynorsk. It was published in Tiden in 2008.

In 2020 he begun uploading chapter by chapter, his narration of his own translation. These recordings can be found online but are not officially licensed.
